Students will plan/draft/proofread and present a near final copy. To encourage confidence and independence children will be encouraged to read work out, and discuss the quality of their work. Also the children are encouraged to punctuate writing, by using capital letters, full stops and begin to use commas.  Students continue to accumulate a bank of words, and checking spellings/meanings of words using a dictionary.

Students will continue to follow the writing process by prewriting, drafting, and concluding their descriptive writing ready for sharing.  A focus will be to develop an interest in descriptive words through discussion of language use and choice.

Students continue to develop and consolidate their independent reading routines to develop enthusiastic, independent reflective readers. Students are actively encouraged to read both fiction and non-fiction books.

Unit of Inquiry
Students will continue to investigate and research our unit of inquiry. Developing the theme that people belong to communities and how these communities change over time. Some children may research a local area or community and find out how it has changed over the last century by using the Internet or talking to older people to find out what the area was like when they were younger.  Opportunities will be given for children to present their work to their class.
