Unit of Inquiry:

Learning objective-
  • To investigate and research about various communities and how they have changed over time. 
  • To identify factors responsible for such changes.
Learning engagements-
  • Students read various books on communities and also researched on iPad.
  • Students did activities related to the topic in order to enhance their understanding of various communities and identified how they changed over time.
  • Students worked on of the summative task.

In Mathematics,

Learning objective –
·        To be able to use different strategies to solve addition problems.

Learning engagements-
  • Students continued to work on addition with carrying over and looking at double digits.
  • Students solved simple mathematical word problems involving 2 and 3 digit numbers. 
  • The students were given the opportunity to use different strategies and apply mathematical reasoning skills for solving addition problems as part of the summative task.
In Language arts,

Reading- 
  • Students continued to read books of their choice - Daily Five.
  • Reading relative sessions.
  • Unit of Inquiry books
  • Non-fiction books
Learning engagement- 
  •  Students were encouraged to identify the non-fiction text features and record it.


Writing

Learning objective- 
  • To develop their writing stamina with a focus on descriptive writing.
  • To be able to identify and use punctuation marks correctly.
Learning engagement- 
  • Students selected a final piece of their own descriptive writing to revise, edit and publish.
  • Students were encouraged to punctuate their writing by using capital letters, full stops and began to use commas. 
  • Students began publishing the final piece of their own descriptive writing.
