Unit: Folk art around the world.
During this unit students are learning about different folk arts from around the world and their style of painting and different mediums used to express themselves. They learned about Koru painting which is a New Zealand folk art. They were very excited to learn this new style of painting and to learn about how these art forms depicted a symbol of growth and prosperity. Students made different types of Korus and they also experimented joining two different Korus. Students enjoyed doing this art very much when using this art style.
